The number of years spent by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport on consulting services has increased more than in the past two years.

In 2017/18, the Department spent £ 2.7m on consultancy services; This number has risen by £ 600,000 over the next two years: the former to £ 3.3m then, in 2019/20, to £ 3.9m.

Then there’s the huge increase in 2020/21, when DCMS spent £ 16.6m on negotiators. This is, of course, the age marked by the high incidence of coronavirus infection. The office is responsible for providing the government’s Covid response and supporting the management of a £ 750m support fund for charity, community and industry.
